Genesis Montealegre, AMFT
Genesis became a therapist to help empower individuals to live in alignment with their authentic selves. With a passion for genuine human connection, she found that helping people connect with themselves through therapeutic relationships is in line with her own purpose. She wants to be a source of guidance and encouragement for individuals from underrepresented and diverse communities as well as those that do not feel at home in their own bodies to help them align with who they truly are or hope to be.
Genesis approaches each person with curiosity, compassion, and openness while creating a safe and collaborative space for healing. She believes that every individual has unique strengths and fosters a therapeutic environment that allows for her clients to explore their inner self.
While Genesis has experience working with a variety of presenting issues, she especially enjoys working with children, young adults, adult women, and families.
She integrates a variety of therapeutic techniques and welcomes people from different ethnic backgrounds and identities. She is most passionate about working with individuals struggling with complex trauma, depressions, anxiety, body image, self-esteem, postpartum, and religious or sexual trauma.
When you meet Genesis for the first time, you can expect a bright and open presence. Therapy is meant to invoke change and introspection; therefore, it is important for Genesis’ clients to feel safe and welcomed from the very start. She will explore and ask a few questions about what is currently going on while also creating room for you to share what is on your mind. Her top priority during a session is to meet you where you are at in order to explore comfortably and safely.
