Haley Provan, AMFT
Haley realized the importance of therapy having been on the other side of the therapeutic relationship, and feeling lost and confused, and walking away discouraged and disappointed. Haley felt like she was trying to make sense of what was happening in her life, yet the therapist was comparing her to others and trying to fit her in a “box”. It was this experience that made her realize her goal was to become a therapist to ensure that her clients never leave feeling the way she felt after seeking out therapy and the journey to work on herself. Even if it’s just a listening ear, a mirror to reflect, or a safe space Haley, will always be passionate about helping others in any capacity that she can.
Haley’s philosophy when it comes to therapy and treatment is to bring awareness to the areas of our life that lack awareness. She feels that we cannot change what we do not know. She practices from a person-centered modality, believing that looking inward is key to gaining self-awareness as it is a powerful way to develop and cultivate a love of oneself that is compassionate and supportive of goals and dreams. Her goal is to support her clients in identifying their strengths and abilities all while increasing confidence to take on change and growth in a way that comes to them naturally, and genuinely “clicks” with them. This to assist in alignment with their own personal self-concept. Haley’s therapeutic environment is calm, laid back, and patient, she will always meet the client where they are at.
Haley has experience in working with various presenting problems from anxiety, ADHD, depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder, family conflicts, sleep disorders, trauma, and adjustments. She works from a CBT/DBT and client centered prospective to support her clients in reframing, accepting, and identifying challenges for change in their lives. She specializes in working with teens and young adults as well as couples and families.
When working with Haley you can expect a calm and inviting environment. She encourages everyone, to leave pressure and judgment at the door. The first session will be all about building a relationship that is genuine and natural to ensure the client feels safe, supported, and comfortable with transparency. Haley values how a client feels in the therapeutic setting as it’s the basis of healing and change.
