Jesayha Hamilton, AMFT
Jesayha became a therapist to lessen the number of people, who, every day, feel alone in this world, who shouldn’t have to navigate their challenges by themselves. She feels it’s important for everyone to have someone to relate to and be heard and validated by. As a Black therapist, it’s important to her that all individuals from various backgrounds are provided a safe space that they can receive support and be their authentic self.
Jesayha enjoys empowering individuals to take control over their lives and choices. Additionally, she enjoys taking clients deeper into their past to learn where core issues may lie, where negative messages stem from, and how their development impacts who they are today. It is her hope that clients can look deeper within themselves to heal from trauma and live a more connected and peaceful life. Authenticity is vital in the therapeutic relationship, and Jesayha models that and encourages it from clients. She feels it’s important to be yourself in the room, using humor, pop culture references and other client interests. She views therapy as a collaborative approach where the client and therapist both work together to navigate the best approach to therapy. Jesayha’s therapeutic approach is typically tailored to each client, but often incorporates components from psychodynamic/ attachment therapy, humanistic and person-centered therapy. She also refers to internal family systems and choice theory as needed.
Jesayha, is open to working with most individuals from various backgrounds, she specializes in working with teens and young adults between the ages of 14 and 25. She also enjoys working with daughters that seek healing from toxic mother daughter relationships. Jesayha enjoys helping individuals that struggle with anxiety, depression, self-confidence, relationship issues/ domestic violence, healing from current or past trauma, sexual trauma, and childhood abuse/ neglect. When working with Jesayha you will find someone who possesses genuineness and compassion.
