Maria Christian, MSW, LCSW, QIDP
Maria chose to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker because she enjoy’s helping others, guiding them to a place where they feel peace and hope again. She believe’s people change, grow, and heal when they receive empathy, emotional support, and their feelings and experiences are validated. She wants you to know that you are not alone, and that she has been on the other side of the consulting room. In fact, it was at the suggestion of a previous therapist that she embarked on the journey towards becoming an LCSW.
Maria brings a wealth of experience to her work, having treated children, adolescents, adults, older adults, and clients with developmental disabilities of all ages. While she is trained and qualified to work with a range of presenting concerns, she specializes in depression, anxiety, life stressors, adjustment to new health status, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, crisis, relationship concerns, and grief.
Maria recognizes that the work you do together is based on respect and trust. She help’s her clients identify strengths that will empower them, and to find meaningful tools to be used when life gets tough in the future. Because your work in sessions addresses circumstances outside of sessions, she may also ask you to do some homework and report back to her on how that worked or didn’t work. This could be trying something new, such as a mindfulness exercise, or keeping track of negative self-talk.
