Melissa Moon, (APCC)
Since a young age, Melissa has always known she wanted to help people. She found herself naturally engaging with others and trying to help anyone struggling. Melissa finds joy in helping provide guidance to those who feel lost, and hope to those who feel hopeless. She feels that no one deserves to go through life feeling that way. It is her passion and mission to help remove the stigma around mental health and illness because she knows that everyone needs help sometimes.
Melissa’s philosophy is that everyone can benefit from help with their mental health and wellness. She strives to assist her clients in ways to identify opportunities to work on their mental fitness. To do this, it is important to have a therapeutic environment that allows her clients to feel safe and welcome. Melissa takes a very personal and individualized approach with each client. Depending on their goals and what they want out of therapy, they will design a plan together. Melissa believes in a collaborative approach so that she can assist with problems happening in the here and now, while also addressing the deep-seeded roots from which they have grown. She uses evidence-based techniques derived from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and takes a Solution-Focused, Client-Centered approach.
Melissa enjoys working with individuals from different backgrounds working through various issues including anxiety disorders, panic disorders, personality disorders including Borderline Personality Disorder, Relational Issues, Depression, and Trauma. She has experience in treating both adolescents and adults as well as post-partum women.
When meeting Melissa for the first time, people can expect a friendly, warm, and curious conversation! She loves to get to know you and believes the better she understands your perceptions, the better she can help and challenge you to grow. She offers unconditional positive regard and always wants her clients to feel safe.
