Sharon Stroup, LMFT
Sharon became a marriage and family therapist because she wanted a career that made use of her naturally compassionate and empathetic personality, while fulfilling her calling to help others. She recognizes that the strength of the relationship between therapist and client is an important predictor of treatment success. She enjoys building a unique and authentic relationship with each client, founded on trust and mutual respect.
Sharon is trained and qualified to work with a variety of presenting concerns, and most enjoys adults, couples, and adolescents. She is especially gifted with highly sensitive individuals, who may have difficulty managing their emotions. This is sometimes due to trauma, or problems in “attachment” relationships, such as with one’s parents, family, partner, or close friends. She helps her clients learn how to identify their feelings, understand their needs, and manage their emotions more effectively. She also enjoys helping couples learn new ways of communicating, thereby improving their ability to care for one another.
During your first session with Sharon, you can expect her to be relaxed, warm, and inviting. She will spend a good amount of time getting to know you, your background, and the issues you’re currently facing. She also welcomes questions about her therapeutic style, and what you can expect from treatment.
